The Council of Ministers laud the performance of the Higher Council for the Environment and Natural Resources
The Acting Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers, Syed Ahmed Hassan Al-Atta, speak highly on the performance of the higher Council for Environment and Natural Resources and its achieved successes in terms of setting policies and legislation, implementing projects and activities to protect and preserving the environment. He requested the Council to submit periodic reports to the Council of Ministers. Al-Atta valued during his today participation in the final workshop of the Third National Communication Report the effort of the national experts, institutions and sectors who participated in preparation of the report. He also, treasured the studies included in the report. Finally, he noted the importance of translating the report into Arabic.For his part, The Secretary-General in charge of the Higher Council for Environment and Natural Resources, Suleiman Al-Buni, explained that the council, which has recently changed from the economic sector to the sovereign as support to the Council of Ministers. HCNER is responsible for coordinating environmental work in Sudan and developing long-term federal plans to protect the environment and optimal use of natural resources and coordinate the efforts of the state to join the International environmental agreements and follow-up its execution . It will also attract technical and financial support to implement some projects to achieve the sustainable development goalsHe indicated that the Third National Communication Report was carried out with the extensive participation of all relevant institutions in the governmental, private, and academic and research sectors and nongovernmental organizations. It included the results of greenhouse gas emissions and opportunities to reduce them, studies on the effects of climate change on the development sectors in the country and the options available to adapt to climate change, and driving the development process He indicates the contribution of the report on acquiring support and fund to confront climate risks and build the capacities of individuals and institutions in fields related to the implementation of the Convention, in addition to enriching the Sudanese library, since the report contains a lot of knowledge, information and data.For her part, Rehab Ahmed Hassan, the National Coordinator of the project, tackled the content and methodology used in preparing the National Communication Reports in compliance with the Articles of the Climate Change Agreement. She added that Sudan, represented by the Higher Council for Environment and Natural Resources, was able to prepare the First report in 2003 and the Second one in 2013 in by the concerned authorities a participatory approach, which resulted in optimum reports, The reports received praise, appreciation and intention from the Convention Secretariat, the Conference of Parties, and many countries and organizations. She indicates that the workshop aims to present and approve the outputs of the Third National Communication Report . The report will be presented to the Council of Ministers and later submitted to the Secretariat of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
