Capacity-building to enforce the Paris Agreement’s transparency Act

Sudan, through the Higher Council for Environment and Natural Resources, started building its institutional capacities and developing its human capabilities to implement the transparency Act in the Paris Agreement on Climate Change. In this regard, the Council, in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program, held today at the Peace Hotel the inaugural workshop for the Transparency act project. The workshop was addressed by the Secretary-General of the Council Dr.  Mona Ali Mohamed Ahmed. She affirmed the importance of the project to all relevant institutions and sectors and all states of Sudan for the purpose of implementing the transparency act, by providing transparent and clear information on adaptation and mitigation programs and the financial aid provided.

The project’s national director, Rehab Ahmed Hassan, intimated to   the project’s contribution to strengthening the capabilities of national institutions and providing tools, training and assistance that would enable Sudan to meet the requirements of the transparency act and to improve and develop its concept and provisions, knowledge management, and follow-up and evaluation of activities related to it. She added that the project addresses the shortcomings in preparing national communication reports and seeks to establish a data management center and raise awareness of the concept of transparency and the Paris Agreement.
