Commission of inquiry and assessment of of the environmental impacts of the sinking of the livestock ship

General- Secretary of the Higher Council for Environment and Natural Resources Dr. Mona Ali Mohamed Ahmed issued today an administrative decision to form Commission of inquiry and assessment of of the environmental impacts of the sinking of the livestock ship in Suakin Port in the Red Sea. Based on Miscellaneous Amendments Law – (Unification of Environment Councils) of 2020 – Legislation No.3 of 2020.

The resolution stipulated the formation of a committee from the marine environment, legal and media departments to investigate the accident, identify its causes, investigate it, and determine responsibility. In addition, the committee evaluates the environmental risks resulting from the accident and how to properly dispose the waste resulting from it. The Committee shall submit its report to the Secretary-General within two days of the date of the resolution.
