Al-Buni visits the artisanal mining sites in the Nile State and stresses the need to conform to environmental requirements

The Secretary General in charge of the Higher Council for Environment and Natural Resources, Suleiman Al-Buni, stopped at gold tailings reprocessing with mixers  sites in the residential areas and farm south Barber,  during his visit to the state of the River Nile states  . He checked the sites for treating gold mining residues with mixers. He Come to know about the extent of health and environmental damages associated with mining activity.  He appreciates the efforts of the state and the concerned authorities in limiting the phenomenon in order to preserve human health and the environment. This visit is coincided with the report launched jointly by the Council and Al Neelain University and Sudanese Environment Conservation Society. The report confirm the presence of some cases of mercury poisoning among the children and a high concentrations of mercury in drinking water and the soil in the surrounding areaAl-Buni also received elaborative enlightenment from the Secretary General of the State Council for the Environmental Protection, Dr. Sami Mustafa about the performance of the council and the problems and difficulties that hinder work.  He promised to provide the necessary aids to overcome the obstacles ad he stressed the importance of abidance to environmental impact studies of the activities that negatively affect the environment and activate the supervisory role and pay attention to the training and awareness aspects.
